We had a music activity last week. Many of the children love to play musical instruments, and they were so excited when they saw tambourines and the other instruments. But we used various materials as an instrument, such as a bucket and a box. Some of the children looked disappointed when they saw a box to play as a drum and wanted to have other instruments, but once they saw a teacher/ friend played it, they loved and enjoyed. Older children thought that is like a video game, “TAIKO NO TATSUJIN”. Also a few children played two instruments at the same time. It was so funny to see when we saw how the children played. Especially one of them played in very interesting way. Can you guess how he played? He held a castanet in his hand and used his foot to ring a bell! He played and followed the rhythm of the music very good. Not only him, but most of the children also listened to the music and followed the rhythm amazingly. It might be because they listen to music often at home/ preschool or they love Karaoke? Anyway, it was a good opportunity to see their potential skill of the music, and we as staff members enjoyed the activity time.
This following week, we have a SETSUBUN activity and ONI art and craft. ONI is type of a demon but different from Western’s one. We can’t guess how the children react to the ONI… they might be scared? We are looking forward to seeing how they make/draw ONI for the craft.
